Member Bio
Raylene (Ray) joined Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic in Jan, 2023 as Director of Giving and Engagement. Originally from New Zealand, Ray came to the US at age 16 to study opera, performing internationally until 2001, when she gave birth to her first child and retired from the stage in order to be close to home. After managing events at the New York Peninsula Hotel, Ray and her family moved to the DMV where she spent the next 18 years in Real Estate. With her children grown up, Ray wanted to become involved with an organization that felt meaningful to her. Make-A-Wish was an organization close to Raylene's heart, her mother had founded Make-A-Wish New Zealand in 1986 and Ray had participated in the very first wish of that chapter. Since joining Make-A Wish, Ray has raised over $1.7mil and seen more than 470 wishes granted.
